Big news—I finally finished the straw-clay “tiny house” I’ve been working on for over a year. The paint is dry and the keys are handed over. Now I want YOU to come check it out, at the Open House* on Saturday, November 1st.
To my knowledge, this is the first light straw-clay building in Greater Boston. It’s not just insulated with light straw-clay though: it’s a fruit salad of sustainable building materials! We’ve got hand-felled timber, reclaimed hardwood, wool insulation, clay plaster, lime plaster, clay-lime plaster, wood lath, linseed oil paint.. In the words of Stefon, this place has everything. Maybe even a squirt of spray foam 👹.
I am so excited to be sharing about and celebrating this project with you all. It (and I) have truly; come a long way, starting from August 2024.

I’ve learned so much over the course of this project, from structural engineering 101 to what happens when you touch lime too much, and I can’t wait to tell you more about it.

Make sure to check out the designated tour start times on the event RSVP page: I’ll be giving a guided overview of the project starting at these times. Besides the tours, you’re free to poke around, socialize, ask more questions, and have some light refreshments to rehydrate post-Halloween. It’ll be fun. Let’s go!

*It’s not actually a tiny house, it’s a shed. But in terms of the standards its built to, it’s more house than shed.
