I’m excited to share that I am hosting two natural building workshops next weekend, September 14th and 15th, in New York, with Drew Gardens Bronx. We have been in touch for several months, developing this project, and I’m finally on my way to the city for a week of building and connecting.
If you or anyone you know in the city would be interested, please check out the Workshops page for more details and to register. Space is limited, so first come first serve!

I’m stoked about this trip because it is exactly the kind of work I set out to do when I started Biolithic Builds: bringing natural building workshops to dense urban areas where they are usually not available.
I will be building a small structure: a new house for the adorable chickens that call Drew Gardens home. Chickens can be quite hardy, but they would enjoy a home that keeps them cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. That makes it the perfect opportunity to use some of the same techniques that do the same for humans: passive solar, insulation, and thermal mass incorporation. We’ll be using the same building methods that have been used to construct human-sized homes in this climate, primarily light straw-clay, and also some cob.

Feel free to contact me with any further questions or connections. Thank you for everyone who has subscribed. I’ll be posting more information about my Boston area projects and workshops coming up shortly this fall. I’ve been very busy here and can’t wait to share more.
