Hello friends,
Our cob oven build continues to progress excitingly (see below)—and we’d love some help at a free volunteer workshop on Saturday, August 1st. In order to be ready for the plastering workshop on August 8th, we need some help transforming the rough stone plinth into a stunning geometric marvel, rarely seen in modern architecture: the rectangle. That’s right: cob isn’t only for curvy-wurvy hobbit houses, it can be square as well.
This is a perfect opportunity to learn about cob at no cost. Another great opportunity is reading my post, “What is Cob?”.
The volunteer event will run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and we ask that volunteers plan to spend at least 2 hours on site. Register by sending an email via the contact form, and we will follow up with the address and further details.
Lincoln is about 13 miles away from Boston. Carpools are usually available, and we are happy to put registrants in touch with each other.
And if you can’t make August 1st, there’s always the August 8th clay plaster workshop, also on the oven. Tickets are priced on a l a r g e sliding scale, and if you need further assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out.
